Early Careers

St Oscar Romero Catholic Academy Trust is proud to be partnering with Teach First to deliver an Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Early Career Training Programme to schools.

By choosing to partner with us, your school will benefit from a fully funded professional development programme for both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and their mentors.

Why choose St Oscar Romero Catholic Academy Trust and Teach First for your ECT provision?

St Oscar Romero Catholic Academy Trust is committed to delivering high standards in education through strong Catholic values and a culture of high expectations. As part of our partnership offer, we will provide high-quality facilitators to deliver the Early Career Framework, ensuring your staff receive expert, consistent support throughout the programme.

In partnership with Teach First—an education charity with over 20 years of experience in teacher and leadership training—we are proud to offer a nationally recognised, Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Early Career Framework (ECF) programme. Teach First works with more than 3,000 schools across the country and is known for its expertise in supporting schools serving disadvantaged communities.

Together, our combined expertise ensures your ECTs and mentors receive exceptional, fully funded training, tailored to their phase and subject, with a clear focus on impact in the classroom and long-term teacher development.

What does our ECTP look like?
Our high-quality programme is delivered through a mix of face-to-face and online modules and is structured in a way that will help ECTs integrate theory, practice and feedback. Each module includes self-directed study materials containing expert guidance, research and examples of best practice. Programme members will join online seminars to discuss theory and their own experiences with small groups of peers and experts.

What can the ECTP do for your school?
Your ECTs benefit from:

  • a high-quality programme rated outstanding in all areas by Ofsted
  • a structured two-year package of support, training and resources
  • phase and specialist exemplification across both years
  • our unique subject specific training in year 2
  • specialist stretch content on SEND and preparing for leadership
  • flexible online and face-to-face training modules that fit around their schedules
  • access to expert resources
  • a mentor, identified by you, trained by us

Your school benefits from:

  • face-to-face and online training for a middle leader to become a great mentor, designed in partnership with Deans for Impact
  • a network of mentors to share best practice
  • training for a senior leader to introduce the package to your school.

From September 2025, the Early Career Framework becomes the Early Career Teacher Entitlement (ECTE).

The Department for Education (DfE) has announced that from September 2025, the programme will be renamed the Early Career Teacher Entitlement (ECTE). This enhanced version will include diagnostic tools designed to reduce unnecessary repetition from initial teacher training and enable ECTs to build more effectively on their existing knowledge and experience.
